Chocolate & cheese, not only our favorite Ween album, but the classic pairings with fine wines, especially in the season when most of us are cozily snowbound. Just in time for Valentine's Day, our Chocolate Specialist Jennie Brooks, has dreamed up perfect cheese and chocolate pairings with two bottles of wine we're digging on this season. We'll have two cheese/chocolate pairings per wine so you can taste the way that the different pairings interact with the wine. Jennie is joined by Deli Events Assistant, Connor Valone, to guide your tasting experience and talk about their tips and tricks for pairing with wine and the stories behind the foods they love. Join us for a deeper dive into one of the most widely consumed beverages in the world – tea! This session we'll be going beyond the 101 level to discuss green tea history, production, origins, styles, brewing methods, and tips for making the most of your tea at home. Join our Deli Tea Specialist Jackson Konwinski to taste through a selection of eight different teas that explore the depth and breadth of the Deli's selection. Join us for a special dinner to celebrate cheese in honor of one of the first ladies of dairy! Daphne Zepos founded Essex St. Cheese in 2006 to bring the best Comte she could find to US cheese shops. Essex St. now a leader in importing a variety of European cheeses, working with small but quality cheesemakers. Zingerman's co-founder Ari Weinzweig says that "Daphne's work to educate retailers, chefs, cheesemongers and cheese makers has contributed enormously to a huge improvement in the quality of the cheese on counters across the country. Her passion, the poetry of her cheese descriptions, her never ending drive for better flavor, for teaching people what makes good cheese good, and for making already-good cheese even better is truly unrivaled." The cheese world lost a best friend when Daphne passed away in 2012. The Daphne Zepos Teaching Endowment carries on her legacy of learning and teaching. Two annual scholarships are given to food industry professionals to travel and further their learning—and their ability to educate others—about cheese.
