Tega and Tula
$18.00
Ethiopia. 12 oz. 340 g. Tega and Tula specialty coffee farm is named after two nearby villages named Tega and Tula. This farm is located in keffa, Ethiopia and is 500 hectares in size, of which about 400 hectares are planted with coffee, primarily cultivars created in the late 70’s with wild heirloom varietals mixed in. This coffee represents an exciting change in the coffee industry of ethiopia, where since 2008 traceability to a farm was virtually impossible. Changes to the ECX system beginning in 2018 are slowly making it easier to trace coffees back to the villages and farms where the coffee was grown, and not just the region. Tasting notes are representative of the region and include stonefruit, tangerine, and honeysuckle.
Ipugna AA Amcos CO-OP
$17.75
Tanzania. 12 oz. 340 g. This AA graded coffee comes to us from the Ipugna AMCOS (Agricultural Marketing Cooperative Society) in Mbeya, Tanzania. Ipugna AMCOS is made up of 72 small-scale coffee farms. After the farmer delivers the coffee to the washing station it is sorted, graded, and depulped before being fermented and finally washed and moved onto drying tables. This coffee offers high acidity and flavors that include tart fruit punch, citrus, raisin, and chocolate.
Mejor Cafe del Cauca
$95.33
Colombia. 5 lb. bag. Coffee for Peace in Colombia and Federacion Nacional de Cafeteros de Colombia have partnered up to hold competitions in Colombia to give a platform for producers to show their best coffees with the goal of securing significantly higher prices that they ordinarily would in the market. The top 10 coffees are auctioned off, and the rest of the finalists’ lots are blended together to make the Mejor Cafe del Cauca lot, which we are excited to offer to you. Coffee for Peace in Colombia is a coalition of coffee farmers, exporters, and importers to develop, facilitate, and promote the trade of traceable coffees from historically conflict-ridden zones. For years, the regions of Antioquia, Bolivar, Caqueta, Cauca, Meta, and Valle have been plagued with violence stemming from the production of illicit crops. Coffee for Peace in Colombia hopes that due to their targeted technical training in an effort to increase quality and yield, better access to the specialty market, and the resulting higher prices, more farmers in this area will return to coffee, a staple crop in Colombia for over 350 years. This is a nice, easy sipping coffee with notes of cocoa, walnut, raw sugar, and apple. It also makes a great espresso - very syrupy, cherry cola notes, and it holds up great to milk or other additions. Region – Cauca. Varietals – mixed. Process – washed.
Fazenda Passeio
Brazil. We’re don’t usually pay much attention to pulped natural coffees from Brazil, but this one really knocked our socks off. Headed by Adolfo Henrique Vieira Ferreira, a 4th generation coffee farmer, Fazenda Passeio focuses not only on producing the best coffee they can, they invest in the local workforce by providing schooling, job training, and environmental education. This coffee is exceptionally clean for a pulped natural — certainly the result of the extra care taken during the harvest and processing stages. Unlike many coffees from this region, Fazenda Passeio hand-picks and pulps the coffee the same day to avoid any possible over fermentation. The coffee is then dried partially on the patio and then finished by a mechanized drier before being rested for a 45-60 day period. After the rest, they perform a final sort to weed out any defects. We are tasting things like blueberry, nougat, and red grape, and the cups change noticeably as it cools becoming very sweet and complex with a well-structured acidity. At espresso - very syrupy, cherry cola notes, and it holds up great to milk or other additions. Region – Minas Gerais. Varietals – yellow catuai, mondo novo, acaia. Process – pulped natural.
Limcof Norte Fto
$17.00
12 oz. 340 g. Peru. LIMCOF is a coffee export company based in Lima, Peru. Led by Rony Lavan. They seek out small coffee farms throughout the country to find some of the finest and most dynamic coffees Peru has to offer. The Cajamarca region is located in northern Peru and is nestled under the Andes Mountains. Generally known for its mild climate, Cajamarca benefits from fertile soil, which greatly benefits the coffee produced there. We consider this coffee to be very representative of coffees from the Cajamarca region by exhibiting flavors of cranberry, butterscotch, and almond. Region – Cajamarca. Varietals – caturra, yypica, catimor, mundo novo, apache. Process – washed.
Tranquility Decaf Coffee
This coffee was selected by cupping green coffee samples from Colombia prior to the decaffeination process to choose the best lots. It is then decaffeinated using the Ethyl Acetate method which uses a natural solvent made from fermented sugar. The result is a chemical-free decaf coffee with flavor notes of graham cracker, toffee, and citrus with both lively acidity and a big body.
